During our long weekend, Aaron and I went to Washington to visit my cousins and spend time w/ my grandpa. On Friday evening, we stayed w/ my cousin Teri and her family in Selah. On Saturday, we celebrated Teri's birthday by driving over to Whistlin' Jack's Lodge in Naches for lunch and drove over near Mt Rainier. Aaron was so excited to be that close to the mountain that he has chosen to climb one of these days. He wanted to get a head start on the climb at that moment, but the shorts and flip flops that most of us were wearing seemed to change his mind. Yes, it has finally become summer and we were in shorts while playing in the snow banks. LOL

Later that evening, Todd & Teri barbecued ribs for dinner and we ended the evening eating cake w/ ice cream and surprising Teri w/ a Lobster balloon gift. Who wouldn't want a lobster for their birthday??? Once our bellies were full and we had all the laughs everyone could handle from the balloon, Aaron and I headed to my Aunt BB's house in Yakima where we settled in for the night.

On Sunday, Aaron and I took my grandpa for a ride around the country. Grandpa always enjoys telling us about where he used to live and the farmland that kept him busy for so many years. Of course, there are usually stories thrown in about my dad growing up as a kid (I enjoy listening to these). Later that afternoon, my cousins from Seattle (Todd, Carolyn and Garrett) came over to celebrate grandpa's birthday. Todd barbecued ribs (are you sensing that this family enjoys ribs???) and we sat on the patio enjoying each other's company. Our evening ended w/ some birthday cake & ice cream to celebrate grandpa's big day and watched the Disney movie "Wall*E".

Before we headed home on Monday, Todd & Aaron helped grandpa plant 3 rose bushes in the backyard. Grandpa really enjoyed showing the guys where to dig the holes and monitoring that the bushes were placed just right as he held the water hose in hand.
